Facebook dan Twitter diduga menjadi penyebab mengapa kemampuan berbahasa pelajar Thailand makin lemah. Karena itu, Kementerian Budaya Thailand menyarankan agar para pelajar kembali ke tradisi menulis surat. Survei nasional yang dilakukan oleh Kementerian Budaya menemukan bahwa empat dari sepuluh anak muda Thailand tak tau bahwa bahasa Thailand yang baik dan benar sebaiknya digunakan dalam suasana formal. Sekitar sepertiga anak muda Thailand tidak peduli dengan kesalahan eja, singkatan, dan kesalahan gramatikal yang biasa terjadi dalam pesan pendek atau percakapan media sosial. "Kita harus melindungi bahasa nasional kita. Kalau tidak seorangpun yang menganggap bahasa yang baik dan benar itu penting, maka kita akan musnah," kata Menteri Kebudayaan Nipit Intarasombut, Kamis, 23 Juli 2010, saat mengumumkan hasil survei.

CEO Facebook Mark Zuckerberg membantah menyerahkan 84% kepemilikan situs jejaring sosialnya pada seseorang demi uang sebesar US$1.000 (Rp 9 juta). “Jika kami mengatakan kami tidak yakin, berarti hal itu di luar konteks, karena kukira kami cukup yakin bahwa kami tidak menandatangani kontrak itu yang mengatakan mereka memiliki semua hak kepemilikan Facebook,” kata Zuckerberg dalam wawancara dengan Diane Sawyer dari ABC. Paul Ceglia menggugat Zuckerberg bulan lalu mengenai apa yang disebut sebuah kontrak untuk menyerahkan 50% kepemilikan Facebook sebesar US$1,000 (Rp 9 juta). Jumlah pengguna seluler di Indonesia hingga Juni 2010 diperkirakan mencapai 180 juta pelanggan. Jumlah ini sama dengan sekitar 80 persen populasi penduduk. Dari 180 juta pelanggan seluler, sebanyak 95 persen adalah pelanggan prabayar. Demikian catatan Asosiasi Telepon Selular Indonesia (ATSI) yang disampaikan Direktur Utama PT Telkomsel Sarwoto, baru-baru ini. Menurut catatan ATSI, pelanggan Telkomsel hingga Juni 2010 mencapai 88 juta nomor, XL sekitar 35 juta, Indosat sekitar 39,1 juta, selebihnya merupakan pelanggan Axis dan Three. Dari sisi pendapatan seluruh operator seluler sudah menembus angka Rp 100 triliun. "Industri ini terus tumbuh. Investasi terus meningkat menjadi sekitar 2 miliar dolar per tahun, dengan jumlah BTS mencapai lebih 100 ribu unit," kata Sarwoto.

It works almost exactly like google maps except that it displays an overlay pointing towards the Qibla . The direction in degrees from true North is also given at the bottom of the page.
