Semoga tanya jawab yang disajikan ini memberikan gambaran tentang sebuah media sosial yang bernama Twitter , lengkap dengan status yang disebut dengan Twit atau Tweet serta guna Hak Cipta. Image via Wikipedia Charlie Sheen may or may not be “winning,” in life, but he has won a rare honor: the “Fastest Time to Reach 1 Million Followers” Guinness World Record . Guinness community manager Dan Barrett says the agency “just researched and approved” the record this morning. According to Barrett, Sheen reached that milestone in 25 hours and 17 minutes. As of this writing, Sheen’s Twitter account,  @CharlieSheen , has close to 1.2 million followers. Guinness did not have a previous record for that category, Barrett says. Sheen also set a Guinness record for “Highest Paid TV Actor Per Episode — Current” at $1.25 million. Sheen  joined Twitter March 1 . In a matter of minutes, Sheen acquired more than 60,000 followers and a Klout score of 57 — without even tweeting. According to  a report in  Advertising Age , Sheen was able to get his account verified so quickly because Internet startup Ad.ly brokered his account with Twitter.

Image via CrunchBase Firma investasi J.P. Morgan Chase disinyalir akan membeli sekira 10 persen saham Twitter dengan nilai mencapai USD450 juta. Langkah ini segera mendongkrak nilai situs mikroblog itu menjadi USD4,5 miliar.   Silicon Republic , Senin (28/2/2011), melansir jika J.P. Morgan berniat membeli saham Twitter secara langsung dengan melibatkan pemegang saham dan investor saat ini, dan bukan melalui pasar.   Menurut   Wall Street Journal   dan   New York Times , langkah J.P Morgan dipicu oleh investasi baru dari Digital Growth Fund yang mencapai USD1,2 miliar, tidak terpaut jauh dari target awal, USD1,3 miliar.

Baru diluncurkan TweetLouder, sebuah aplikasi yang bisa men-scan akun iTunes , Pandora , Last.fm dan SonicLiving pengguna, untuk menemukan akun Twitter dari musisi favorit.

Image via Wikipedia Departemen Propaganda di Kota Chongqing Cina meluncurkan situs mikrobloging "Red Microblog" dua hari lalu. Red Microblog dibuat untuk menyaingi Twitter. Dalam lamannya, pendirian situs ini merupakan permintaan Menteri Propaganda Li Changchun untuk menguasai media.  Sekretaris Partai Komunis Kota Chongqing, Bo Xilai, langsung jadi anggota dan memposting pesan-pesan bernada propaganda. "Saya sangat menyukai kata-kata (Pendiri RRC) Mao Zedong, Dunia milik kita, kita harus bekerja sama," tulisnya, seperti dilaporkan Telegraph, Kamis (16/12). Pesan-pesan lain tidak kalah optimistis. "Tidak ada langit yang lebih lebar dari telapak tangan, tidak ada jalan yang lebih panjang dari telapak kaki, tidak ada laut yang lebih luas dari hati."

Image via CrunchBase Twitter Inc. lagi-lagi mendapat tambahan modal sebesar US$ 200 juta (Rp 1,8 triliun) dari beberapa investor Rabu (15/12) lalu. Penyertaan modal tersebut membuat nilai perusahaan yang berbasis di San Fransisco ini naik 4 kali lipat dari tahun lalu menjadi US$ 3,7 miliar. Pendanaan terbaru tersebut datang dari Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers yang aktif di Silicon Valley, serta beberapa investor lain. Dengan penyertaan modal terbesar kedua tahun ini, Twitter sudah meraih dana US$ 360 juta. Analis Gartner Inc. Ray Valdes mengatakan valuasi tersebut mencerminkan peningkatan ketertarikan para investor terhadap perusahaan pengelola situs web jejaring sosial ini. “Valuasi itu tidak berlebihan, karena memang Twitter tumbuh pesat,” ujar Valdes.

"Kami tidak pernah menyensor apapun soal wikileaks," kata juru bicara Twitter Matt Graves seperti dikutip dari laman Digitaltrends, Rabu (8/12) waktu setempat. Beberapa reporter kemarin curiga dan menduga Twitter telah menyensor #wikileaks dan #cablegate. Sebab, dua kata tersebut lenyap dari trending topic dan hilang dari halaman utama Twitter. Graves mengatakan ada beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan suatu topik lenyap dari daftar topik hangat. Salah satunya, kata Graves, ada topik lain yang lebih banyak dibicarakan para pemilik akun Twitter, sehingga lebih populer dan menjadi tren ketimbang Wikileaks. Sebelumnya, situs jejaring sosial terbesar Facebook juga memastikan tidak akan menutup akun Wikileaks.
