Perubahan itu mengakhiri masa kejayaan Nokia yang telah berkuasa sejak dekade lalu, berdasarkan angka yang dirilis analis Canalys. Secara total, ponsel Android telah terjual 32,9 juta di seluruh dunia selama kuartal terakhir pada 2010, tujuh kali lebih banyak dibanding 2009. Hasil itu jauh dibandingkan dengan penjualan Symbian yang 31 juta.

Google tampaknya makin serius memproduksi berbagai gadget andalan. Setelah menelurkan ponsel Nexus One, raksasa mesin cari ini dilaporkan sedang mempersiapkan komputer tablet berjuluk 'gPad' yang ditujukan untuk menghantam Apple iPad. Menurut laporan media New York Times, Chief Executive Google Eric Schmidt selip lidah sehingga dalam sebuah pesta internal, ia membocorkan tentang adanya pengembangan tablet tersebut. Schmidt mendeskripsikan tablet Google sebagai tablet reader yang punya fungsi komputasi. Dilansir V3 dan dikutip detikINET, Selasa (13/4/2010), tablet itu hampir bisa dipastikan mengandalkan sistem operasi Android berikut layanan konten di Marketplace. Sedangkan untuk menyediakan ebook, kemungkinan akan memakai layanan Google Books.

SEORANG teman di milis baru saja membeli BlackBerry (BB) dan bertanya bagaimana mengaktifkan layanan BB tersebut. Kabar baik bagi pengguna Samsung Omnia HD. Setelah sejak kemunculan ponsel ini di pertengahan 2009, Samsung tak pernah melakukan update firmware. Kini di akhir tahun, akhirnya vendor asal Korea itu menyediakan update firmware bagi Omnia HD. Ponsel berbasis Symbian tersebut sebelumnya dirasa kalah pamor dengan rival terdekat mereka yakni Nokia N97 yang terlihat lebih 'peduli' terhadap peningkatan kemampuan firmware.
