HTML5 memang masih terbilang baru dalam bahasa markah situs web. Hingga kini HTML5 masih terus dikembangkan, namun HTML5 dengan cepat mengalami peningkatan dari sisi grafis maupun animasi. HTML5 juga dimanfaatkan para pengembang untuk menciptakan game yang dimainkan melalui  browser  terkini. Tak perlu meng-install aplikasi, pengguna hanya butuh terkoneksi dengan internet dan sudah memiliki  browser , seperti Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, atau Internet Explorer, versi terbaru. Selain di komputer desktop dan laptop, game HTML5 juga bisa dimainkan melalui perangkat  mobile  yakni  smartphone  dan tablet.

Menurut lembaga riset dan konsultasi Frost and Sullivan, smartphone akan menguasai lebih dari setengah pasar di Asia pada tahun 2015 dengan estimasi penjualan mencapai 477 juta unit. Diperkirakan Frost and Sullivan, pangsa pasar smartphone di Asia Pasific akan terus bertumbuh pesat hingga 54 persen pada lima tahun mendatang, dibandingkan lima persen per tahun 2009. Tajamnya pertumbuhan penjualan smartphone akan mampu mendongkrak pendapatan para operator telekomunikasi. Karena, semakin meluasnya pasar smartphone, semakin besar pula permintaan pasar terhadap layanan data. Seperti diketahui, smartphone (ponsel pintar) saat ini dikenal sebagai perangkat bergerak kelas atas yang dapat menyuguhkan akses data lebih cepat, seperti e-mail dan browsing, dibandingkan ponsel-ponsel biasa dengan fitur sama.

Pertumbuhan pengguna Blackberry di Indonesia ternyata benar-benar marak. Hal ini terlihat dengan banyaknya pengguna Blackberry Messenger di Indonesia. "Salah satu contoh adalah penggunaan aplikasi Blackberry Messenger. Orang Indonesia rata-rata memiliki minimal 100 teman di messenger kami. If you make a comparison for Smartphone Platform traffic in USA, the traffic share of iPhone has dropped from almost 70% in April 09 to approx 45% in Feb 10, but still it holds half of the traffic share .Also, the growth of Android OS is very significant in the last several months. Perusahaan internet raksasa dunia, Google Inc, tak henti-hentinya berinovasi. Setelah sukses mengembangkan sistem operasi Android, kali ini Google berancang-ancang meluncurkan web televisi atau web TV yang juga berbasis Android. Tak tanggung-tanggung, untuk pengembangan web TV itu, Google bakal menggandeng Intel Corp, Sony Corp, dan Logitech International SA. "Proyek ini akan dinamai Google TV," ujar dua orang sumber yang ikut dalam pertemuan Google dengan perusahaan-perusahaan tersebut, kepada Bloomberg, Kamis (18/3/2010). Nantinya, tambah mereka, Google TV akan menggunakan chip milik Intel. Sedangkan Logitech akan menjadi pengembang keyboard yang bisa beralih fungsi menjadi remote control.

Lembaga riset ComScore melaporkan, pertumbuhan akses ke Facebook melalui perangkat bergerak sekitar 112 persen, sementara Twitter meroket hingga 347 persen.
