Lihat judulnya saja sudah kebaratan, tapi isinya Indonesia punya barang. Kalau biasanya film Indonesia identik dengar horor, cabul, ngesot, kali ini sedikit ada pencerahan dengan hadirnya Serbuan Maut  alias The Raid: Redemption  dilayar bioskop. Film bergenre action dan seni bela diri dari Indonesia ini disutradarai oleh seorang sutradara asal Wales, Gareth Evans, dibintangi oleh Iko Uwais (Merantau). Tepatnya Jum'at (23/3), beberapa hari lalu serentak di putar di empat negara, yaitu di Indonesia, Australia, Kanada dan Amerika Serikat. Film yang pertunjukan perdananya 8 September 2011 di Festival Film Internasional Toronto (Toronto International Film Festival - TIFF) menyabet penghargaan tertinggi The Cadillac Peoples Choice Award, kini film yang lebih menonjokkan aksi bela diri tradisional pencak silat tersebut bertengger di Hollywood yang disejajarkan dengan film-film dunia lainnya serta masuk dalam deretan 50 film laga terbaik.

Guinness community manager Dan Barrett says the agency “just researched and approved” the record this morning. According to Barrett, Sheen reached that milestone in 25 hours and 17 minutes. As of this writing, Sheen’s Twitter account,  @CharlieSheen , has close to 1.2 million followers. Guinness did not have a previous record for that category, Barrett says. Sheen also set a Guinness record for “Highest Paid TV Actor Per Episode — Current” at $1.25 million. Sheen  joined Twitter March 1 . In a matter of minutes, Sheen acquired more than 60,000 followers and a Klout score of 57 — without even tweeting. According to  a report in  Advertising Age , Sheen was able to get his account verified so quickly because Internet startup Ad.ly brokered his account with Twitter.

News Corp. is in very early talks with James Cameron about a possible "Avatar" sequel. Asked about potential "Avatar" sequels, chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch said on his quarterly earnings call Tuesday that the conglomerate is in "very early talks about it." Director James Cameron "has ideas" for a sequel, he said, adding: "We will be pushing for one." But he cautioned analysts not to "hold your breath for an early one" in a possible reference to Cameron projects often taking a long time to come to fruition.

KESUKSESAN  film tiga dimensi (3D), Avatar baik dalam penjualan tiket maupun bayaknya penghargaan yang diterima, rupanya telah menginspirasi sutradara asal Italia, Tinto Brass untuk membuat film porno dalam bentuk 3D. Sutradara film kolosal kontoversial Caligula itu telah mengumumkan rencananya untuk membuat lagi Caligula dalam format 3D. Seperti dikutip dari BBC, Brass kepada Hollywood Reporter menyatakan bahwa film besutannya itu akan menjadi film porno 3D pertama di dunia. Brass menyebut proyek yang sudah lama ditinggalkan itu sebagai proyek re-make. Pada 1979, Brass membuat Caligula yang dibintangi Helen Mirren dan Peter O'Toole. Film itu hasil kerjasama Brass dengan bos Penthouse, Bob Guccione. Film yang banyak dikritisi itu juga mengundang kontoversi. Sampai-sampai penulis Amerika Serikat, Gore Vidal yang menulis naskah aslinya, memilih menjaga jarak dan menempuh jalur hukum untuk mengapuskan namana dari filem itu. 

Setelah selama enam Minggu berturut-turut menduduki tangga box office, film Avatar akhirnya melewati catatan rekor pemasukan film Titanic, yang telah bertahan dan tak tergoyahkan selama 13 tahun! Film bergenre scy-fi epic itu mendapatkan pemasukan hingga kini sebesar 1.288 miliar dollar AS. Dan mencatatkan namanya menjadi film terlaris sepanjang sejarah mutakhir. Sebagaimana dirilis situs resminya, film besutan James Cameron, yang juga sutradara film Titanic itu, sudah diprediksi oleh banyak pengamat film dunia, akan mampu menyusul raihan kesuksesan film Titanic. Film Titanic sendiri mendapatkan pemasukan di seluruh dunia sebesar 1.242 miliar dollar AS. Dengan demikian, film yang baru saja dinobatkan sebagai Yang Terbaik dalam ajang Golden Globe 2010 itu, telah menggungguli pemasukan film pendahulunya sebesar 45 miliar dollar AS.

Setelah enam pekan bertahan di posisi puncak box office, "Avatar", film arahan sutradara James Cameron, terus menambah pundi-pundi pendapatannya. Pada pekan keenamnya, jumlah pendapatan domestik yang berhasil diraihnya mencapai 36 juta dollar. Secara keseluruhan total pendapatannya pun menjadi 552,8 juta. Angka ini melampaui jumlah pendapatan yang diperoleh "The Dark Knight" yang mencapai 533 juta dollar AS.

Aktor Johnny Depp jadi trending topic di situs jejaring sosial, Twitter. Penyebabnya karena Depp disebut-sebut telah meninggal dunia. Benarkah? Ternyata tidak. Bahan perbincangan para pengguna Twitter didasarkan dari screenshot situs berita CNN yang disebutkan dimuat tahun 2004 silam. Screenshot berita itu pun sebenarnya telah dinyatakan sebagai kesalahan teknis oleh CNN. CNN ketika itu mengaku telah lalai dalam memuat nama korban kecelakaan lalu lintas menjadi Johnny Depp. Padahal yang menjadi korban saat itu bukan aktor top Johnny Depp. Sejumlah situs berita asing yang selama ini dikenal memiliki keakuratan dan kecepatan berita pun tidak memuat mengenai meninggalnya Depp. Situs BBC, Reuters, Contact Music, Female First, Daily Mail, The Sun hingga CNN tidak melansir berita meninggalnya pemain film 'Donnie Brasco' tersebut pada Minggu (24/1/2010).
