Facebook mengambil alih posisi Google sebagai perusahaan teknologi terbaik untuk bekerja. Perusahaan situs jejaring sosial asal Palo Alto, California tersebut meraih penghargaan dari Business Insider yang meriset pendapat karyawan perusahaan-perusahaan IT. Karyawan Facebook melaporkan, perusahaan itu memang tidak memberikan kemewahan seperti perusahaan Silicon Valley lainnya seperti hidangan lezat ataupun kantor yang dilengkapi berbagai fasilitas hiburan. Akan tetapi Facebook menarik karena kebebasan yang diberikan perusahaan pada karyawan. Google Inc akan mematikan Google Wave. Program yang disebut sebagai pembunuh Facebook itu memungkinkan orang chatting, berbagi file dan mengkolaborasi dokumen secara real time. “Wave belum mencapai adopsi pengguna yang mungkin kita sukai,” kata senior vice president Google Urs Holzle dalam blognya. Google mengatakan bahwa situs Google Wave akan tetap ada hingga akhir tahun dan teknologinya akan muncul di proyek Google selanjutnya. Sementara kodenya telah tersedia sebagai open source. Google menjelaskan,”Kami tidak berencana untuk mengembangkan Wave sebagai aplikasi tunggal, namun kami akan menjaga situs ini setidaknya hingga akhir tahun ini serta menggunakan teknologinya untuk proyek Google lainnya.”

According to Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner, Microsoft is getting ready to roll out IE version 9 in September. As per some leaked report, Microsoft is expected to release the Beta version in August. The Beta is supposed to feature more user interfaces. The Web Developers are keenly waiting for the new browser. There is a significant improvement of Internet Explorer 9 in comparison with Internet Explorer 8, with considerably improved standards compliance and functionality. The new build that Microsoft released so far is mainly targeted for the Web Developers. It includes new Microsoft Java Script Engine and the new graphic subsystem, integrated with a home page full of test sites. There is no security or no Back button. It seems that Google is on its way to revamp its Gmail account services. Although the company has not announced anything in this matter officially, a leaked screenshot of the internal version of the Gmail services used by its employees have pointed out a lot of differences from the current Gmail services of Google. The screenshot that was taken from Chromium OS bug tracker and was originally intended to point at a bug that exists within Google Chromium Operating service, has turned the attention of geeks towards the latest version of Gmail that is being used by the company's employees.
