New cell phone app identifies predatory adults posing as kids

Well, you can take a breather as scientists have developed a new mobile phone application that helps identify adults posing as children. The software, Child Defence, enables children to scan web chat on their mobile phones to check the age of people they are messaging, reports the Daily Mail. The software has been written by researchers at Isis Forensics, a spin out company based in Lancaster University. The software uses the latest advances in language analysis technology to identify language quirks peculiar to different age groups.

Google’s Eric Schmid eyeballing a career in TV

Image via CrunchBase Google honcho Eric Schmid, who declared his plan to hand over control of the tech giant last week, has set his sights on a career in television. Schmid broke the news that he’s passing the CEO title to 37-year-old co-founder Larry Page in a sarcastic tweet - “Day-to-day adult supervision no longer needed!” According to sources, the outspoken chief has been consulting with CNN’s “Parker Spitzer” executive producer Liza McGuirk on developing a show featuring himself as host. The two first connected on the Sunday foreign-affairs program “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” which McGuirk executive produced and where Schmidt was a regular guest. When Schmidt filmed a pilot for CNN in August, McGuirk oversaw the production.

Image via Wikipedia People aren’t born afraid of spiders and snakes, but can learn these fears very quickly during infancy, says a new research. Scientists have studied how infants and toddlers react to scary objects. In one set of experiments, they showed infants as young as 7 months old two videos side by side-one of a snake and one of something non-threatening, such as an elephant. At the same time, the researchers played either a fearful voice or a happy voice. The babies spent more time looking at the snake videos when listening to the fearful voices, but showed no signs of fear themselves.

Social networking ‘leads to sex faster’

According that third annual sex survey by Shape and Men’s Fitness magazines, nearly four out of five women and three of five men say that digital intimacy leads to having sex faster, reports a foreign news agency. However, only 38 percent of women said they have actually slept with a date any sooner because of online intimacy.

Google Nyatakan Perang Terhadap Spam

Para penjahat cyber tersebut berhasil meloloskan spam mereka karena dipasangkan menggunakan free pass spam. Hal ini tentu saja langsung dibantah oleh perusahaan asal California tersebut. Tidak hanya membantah sebagai tempat spam, Google berjanji akan berperang terhadap semua spam yang bersembunyi melalui iklan yang dipasang di layanan mereka. Google menyatakan akan mencoba memilah konten yang isi dan kualitasnya rendah. Dikutip melalui PC Magazine, Senin (24/1/2011), langkah taktis yang diambil Google adalah dengan meluncurkan dua perubahan algoritmik besar, untuk memerangi ladang konten yang mencakup spam.

Di Facebook , muncul gerakan yang mengklaim sebagai lembaga nonprofit berbasis jejaring sosial yang memberikan penghargaan rekor memalukan di Indonesia. Seperti apa? Halaman Facebook bernama Museum Rekor Memalukan Indonesia ini dibuat sekitar 4 Januari 2010 dengan jumlah pengikut 73 orang. Halaman ini mencantumkan beberapa pemberitaan soal Gayus Tambunan dan keluhan gaji Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono . “Siapa lagi yang percaya dengan hukum di negeri ini? Kesabaran rakyat ada batasnya. Semoga murka rakyat tidak meledak menjadi pengadilan jalanan,” tulis akun ini dalam perbaruan status.
